Drifferent genre styles of music
R&B:
This is Ushers new music video to his single 'No Limit' Published on Aug 8, 2016. This shows conventions of the genre R&B. There is a lot of performance used, with the dancing. This is conventional to the genre. The use and ideas of the costume Usher and the dancers wear are also conventional to the genre of R&B, there is an extreme close up on the gold chains, watches and rings which suggested wealth as dose the do the expensive-looking velvet jacket that Usher is wearing. They are all wearing trainers which are of todays fashion. The street dancing that the backing dancers perform suggested black cutler, which is another convention of R&B genre.

This music video uses the idea of Male Gaze. With the good looking girls dancing in swimwear by a pool, again close ups on jewellery, diamonds and gold chains- shows again the idea of wealth and money. This video is set in a luxury mansion house and there is a scene where Wale is filmed in a car again showing the wealth. R&B singers are usually looked up to by males because of there luxury lifestyles that are shown within their music videos and the girls that are conventional used in the videos also.

The idea of wealth and money is also used as a convention, similar to R&B. In this Video it shows the idea of
'Electronic Shaman' which means the music video Generally a big budget productions where the artist has immortal powers or adopts the ego of another iconic character/ personaity or superhero, this seems to be a running theme with Rap music. Also similar to the R&B genre, people look up to the artist because of their money or wealth or in this example because of their character. In this music video the rapper Nicki Minaj is playing the part of a princess like character in a fairy tale like storyline. Young girls/ teenagers would look up to this and want to be her. She is also shown to be wearing big luxurious dresses and wearing diamonds; again showing the wealth of the artists.
Similar to this there is another example of the idea of 'Electronic Shaman' which is used in

The rap-star Eminem has taken over the part of the famous superhero/sidekick Robin. young boys/teens would look up to this and want to be him.
Indie/Rock:
Indie rock music videos are usually simple and made to look like home made videos. As shown on theses videos a live band is used in the videos. casual clothes are worn by the band.
Pop:
Justin Bieber - Sorry
This pop music video widely consist of performance (through dance). Justin Bieber doesn't appear at all in the video. The conventions of pop are widely shown through the bright colours and patterns that all the performers wear. Pop is very up to date and usually starts fashion trends. The clothes the dancers are wearing were all clothes that young teenage girls were wearing at the time or realise. The fact that Justin Bieber isn't in the video, could maybe suggest the dancers are suggesting the idea of his fan base (young, teenage girls) this helps the fans relate and feel connected with the song and the artist (Justin Bieber) this could be the reason why the song hit number one in many coteries.

A Gothic look is created for the band as they are wearining black leasther jackets and dark eye makeup.
