Question 1
1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
R&B professional music videos that I have taken ideas and inspiration from:
R&B professional music videos that I have taken ideas and inspiration from:
My music video:
As you can see both professional music video use dance and performance throughout the videos, I have stuck with this convention of R&B music video and incorporated that element into my music video that I have made.
However I have gone against the convention of lip sync. The reason for this is that I tried it when filming and I couldn't quite grasp the skill. As I also study dance a long side media I decided I wanted to go down the more dance based and performance based music video, however no looking back I wish I did add some moments of lip sync into the product.
My location suits the conventions of R&B as you can see in the professional videos I have listed at the top, they are both located on the streets or in a rough area. I wanted to show this through my video, which I think I have successfully done.

Question 2
2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
DigiPak Product:
DigiPak Product:
I have taken screen grabs from the footage of my video for my front image and the Image that appears in my DigiPak.
I have used bright and bold pink and blues to catch audience attention, I feel like this really works. I used the idea of the wings image because the album is called 'Angels' so the angel wing image appears throughout the product and is a direct link to the album. I have placed a quote on one of the inside images to link more closely to the music video product, again I think this really works and is a convention of a Digipak products.
To get successful audience feedback I sent photos of my Digipak product to a 'group chat' of my friends aged between 17-19 on the social media platform 'Massager' which is part of the social medium 'Facebook'.
The audience Feedback: I got was they liked the bright colours used, they liked the images and thought that they were eye-catching, arty and original, something that they not seem before. The inside image is off my artist looking down and, I created a silhouette effect on the image.
Here's the image I am taking about:
They said they liked the pink overlay I have edited onto the image using Photoshop. However they addressed that the image is lightly pixelated which they disliked.
My audience also really like the way I placed the wings over the picture of my artist, which appears on the front of my DigiPak product. One audience member stated that it almost looks like the artist has wings and that was the image I was aiming to get so in this case it has been successful.
Here's the image I am taking about:
The audience also said that they didn't really like they way I have drawn around the image of the artist with the pink pen tool on Photoshop. They didn't really see the point in it. However, they liked the font used and the colour scheme of Blue, Pink and Black. They said that the colours really work and it make the product stand out to them.
I asked my audience which was there favourite image and they said this one:
The reason the most of my audience liked this one the most was because they said that they liked the background image of the lights, that is a image I took using the cannon camera of some stage lights (that I have used in my music video) They also said that the image of the wings that is placed in front of the background image looks effect and original, which they liked about it. They really liked the quote that I have placed in the blue text box. They liked this because they said that is links the product closely to the music video.
I asked my audience; would you buy the product if you saw it in the shop. They said......
Most said yes but would make a few changes to the product. Ones that said no said that the pixelated image on the inside of the product really puts them off and said that it brings down the quality of the product so therefore would not pay for.

Question 3
3) What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
DigiPak, audience feedback and what
I've learnt from it:
I have learnt that if I was to
make the DigiPak product again I
would make some changes to
make the product more successful,
however most said they would pay a
and buy the product if it was to
be in a shop, they said that some
aspects bring the product down
in quality, things such as:
Things such as the image quality
of the inside image, it appears
pixelated.
Some images of the artist are not
the best quality, however they
way that the images have been
taken are effect in the sense
that they are eye-catching as
I asked my artist to pose looking
towards the camera, because of
this they felt a personal connection with that artist.
Music video, audience feedback and what I've learnt from it:
This music video is the first music video I have ever made and edited myself using Adobe Premiere Pro. I have found this task hard and challenging, I feel like my music video product is very minimal and it doesn't get the idea I wanted to put across because of my little knowledge of using the editing system. However I have now learnt how to use the system next time I would be able to make a more successful media product.
The audience feedback:
overall audience feedback on my music video was both positive and negative many of the people I asked said that they could tell that I haven't made and edited a music video before as they said the product as I whole looked 'unprofessional'. However, they liked the performance/ Dance based element that is shown throughout the product. They also liked the way I used stage lighting at the end of the video to create a different feel and contrast to the start and beginning. They said it created a shadow of the artist onto the backdrop, they said that this looked effective when the artist was dancing. Also the audience liked my location for the video. This was shot in a rough area of Hull, over a train line. The area had graffiti on the walls and the audience said this gave a 'edgy' feel to the overall video.
I asked the audience to identify the genre of my music video and the said R&B, this was correct. So I have been successful to show genre throughout my media product.
I asked them why they said R&B, they said they could tell that the genre was R&B because of the way the artist is dressed throughout the video.
